I was asked to put some visuals to a piece of ambient music. I trawled my drone footage and found this clip from Weston Super Mare, originally in colour and the right way up, but I like the cinematic look and the feeling of vastness it gives. As the shot gets higher the sky appears in the water on the sand and reveals something quite disorientating.
The artist suggested using something abstract and otherworldly which led to a few dead ends but I was determined to use this clip. The simple effect of turning it upside-down though gave it a weird and alien feel, and was ultimately an elegant solution to the project.
