Motion capture really interests me and I’m fascinated by how a relatively simple rig can literally make a 3D model come to life. It’s just something you can’t quite animate, not with a deadline at least. I didn’t have a deadline for this as this was more a personal project. I had found Mixamo around the time and had a lingering memory of that Major Lazer video, so set myself an objective: make a 1 minute video using motion capture models and Blender. This was the result and I was pretty chuffed with it. I learnt so many new methods during the week this took to put together, and I think it’s a method I’ll continue to use with any new software I get my hands on. I already had a good understanding of Blenders basics thankfully, so this was more an expansion of knowledge rather than a “square one”. What else was I supposed to do in lockdown?
